Comcast DVR?

I have Comcast DVR and I want to know if I can watch a show from the beginning while it is in the middle of recording. For instance, I DVR the Office which starts at 9 and goes till 10. If I got home at 925 would I be able to rewind it from the beginning and watch it from there while it still records or do i have to wait till 10 when its over and done recording to watch it?

Yes, it is possible to watch a program that is still recording from the beginning. You will have full fast forward, rewind and pause capability on the portion of the program that has already been recorded. You can select "Play from beginning" from the recorded list or if the TV is on the channel that it is recording on, you can just rewind to the beginning.

What is the difference between TIVO and Comcast DVR?

I've purchased a TIVO for my parents. However, I didn't realize how expensive the monthly fee is. In looking at Comcast's DVR it looks to be much better deal as far as money is concerned. So, I'm thinking of returning the TIVO and buying them a years worth of Comcast DVR.

Comcast DVR is best because if you already have Comcast cable, its just replacing your cable box with a DVR box. Which is also digital. TiVo is costly and you have to sign a contract.

The Comcast DVR is $9.95 per month and shows up on their bill. You can't just "pay a year." Give them like $100 towards it or something. Better yet, return the TiVo and give them a gift card to the store you bought it from and let them pick out what they want. Best Buy rocks for this.

How can i connect a Comcast DVR to my Samsung DVD recorder so that i can record tv shows/movies?

My Comcast DVR is a Motorola but it's a single tuner (Only one plug in for Audio and Video (Red, White, and Yellow)). With the Comcast HD cables connecting the TV and the DVR, i haven't figured out a way to connect the dvd recorder to the DVR. I have a S-Video cord but you only get video and not audio. Please help if you can...

Hi mooreb1911,

Output of the DVR into the input of the DVD recorder.

You can also buy splitters for the sound (Red / White) if you want to go that way.

How do I get rid of the subtitles on my comcast DVR cable box?

How do I get rid of the subtitles on the my comcast DVR cable box? Is there a setting I can turn off, to get the subtitles off my tv?

LOOK for a CC button on the Comcast remote...press it again and again until the word OFF appears.....

OR......

LOOK on your TV's remote for the same exact button and do the same exact thing listed above.....

BOTH can bring up subtitles if activated.....

Is there a way to get recording from my Comcast DVR to my laptop?

I have a Motorola Comcast DVR box with a USB port on it. I recently recorded a clip from a show with the DVR and saved it. I wanted to post a portion of it on U Tube and was wondering if there is any way to transfer the clip from DVR to my laptop so I can edit it. Also if you can provide a good program to edit the video? Any help is appreciated!

Hi flafuncop,

The USB port on your Comcast DVR isn't an output port.

You can copy your video to your computer with DVD Xpress.

With DVD Xpress you can transfer your video to your hard drive and then edit it if you desire. DVD Xpress comes with basic video editing software. I got mine at Sam's for $59.95.

I saw a newer model at WalMart recently. It was the DVD Xpress2. I think it was $39.95 but I am not positive. You can check one out here http://www.usb-ware.com/ads-dvd-xpress-dx2.htm

You connect the composite output of your DVR into the DVD Xpress and connect the DVD Xpress to your computer via a USB cable.

As I said DVD Express comes with video editing software but if you are running Windows and you have XP or Vista look no further then your own computer for a good movie editing program. You should have Windows Movie Maker. Check Start, Programs, All Programs to find it. If by chance you don't have it go here to get it from Microsoft free - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx
